San Diego update

Today we had planned to go to Legoland but while enroute when Paula remembered reading a few days earlier that they were closed in the middle of the week. We changed plans and went to the Zoo instead. The kids seemed to have a lot of fun but lets get it straight from them.

Callie's favorite parts of today were Pandas she remembers that one of them was eating. She also liked Giraffes which we just missed seeing a new one born by less than an hour.

Tommy D liked the rats because of their home and all the tubes that connected it. he thinks there were three of them and maybe one was hidden. he also liked the rabbits in the petting zoo he just wishes he could have gotten closer to them. he also has decided he wants a pet rabbit because they look adorable(his words). He says the tortioses were pretty cool. He liked the baby hippo and the momma hippo. He liked the lions. He liked the elephants(surprisingly they have 11 of them here). He enjoyed riding the skytram across the park twice. He liked the snakes and monitors. Basically he loved the whole entire zoo.

Nicki walked over to me and said she liked the petting zoo and then walked away with nothing else to say. Guess cartoon withdrawls have set in.
as a side note nicki stated she liked the Koalas

Maddy liked the petting zoo, the okapis, and the all the babies.

Paula was excited cause tommy d finally showed some emotion and smiled alot. We had a large tortiose come over to us the thing was huge an easy three feet in diameter and she was impressed with their speed. Paula thinks she may be able to beat them in a race.

Tom enjoyed the sky tram rides the most partly cause they were free. The Pandas were pretty cool but it seemed liked we were getting rushed through. I thought watching the Callie in the petting zoo was cool she seemed to love all the little animals cause they were the same size as her. We went on a guided bus tour there which I would suggest not doing you really don't get much time to get to see the animals and you only see about half the zoo if that. They do give you alot of information about the animals you do see. I was impressed in how the kids were reading the signs and remembering what they had learned I was floored by some of things they told us. They started to read whether or not they were endangered.

Vacation first three days

I have decided to record our vacation and what each kids liked best each day.
Day 1:Vegas seaport village and the beach
Callie said she just liked the travel she loved going to the beach and seaport village

Tommy D favorite part of the day was the Vegas breakfast and playing water fights in the beach with his mom. and jumping on his dad.

Nicki's favorite part of day one was going to beach.

Maddy liked the Seaport Village and watching the sailboats go by, going over the bridge to Coronado island.

Paula loved playing at the beach.

Tom has just enjoyed watching his family play and get along with each other.
Day 2:Midway and Harbor Tour

Callie stated the Midway was the best part of the whole day she liked the flight deck and she could see all the boats from there. She liked the sea too.

Tommy D liked listening to the self guided tour speakers on the Midway, he liked going around the Harbor and being able to see the seals and sealions on the docks.

Nicki didn't like anything on day 2.

Maddy really liked the historical part of the Midway and being able to see all the planes. She also liked seeing what it was like on the shi[ and what jobs they had. On the Harbor Tour she liked seeing the Top Secret Submarine Bay. They had Covers all over the top-secret propeller.

Paula and Tom both enjoyed seeing the kids locked up in the Brig.

Day 3:Sea World

Callie's favorite part of the day was seeing the Shamu show. and that is all.

TOmmy D really liked the water rides at Seaworld particularly Journey to Atlantis, seeing Shamu watching mom scream and yell and laugh at things, and watching the dolphins, seeing and playing with the starfish. He liked the Sea Lion show.

Nicki enjoyed everything today but she really liked the rides at Seaworld.

Maddy liked the rides although she didn't like them when she first got off the water rides cause she got cold. She loved the Dolphin show and just seeing Shamu. She thought the sea lion show was funny, especially the Dancing with the Sealions portion of the show they danced the tango, pop, and swing.

Paula enjoyed the sea lion show. She was upset that Shamu didn't get are area very well and she didn't get wet. She enjoyed beign with the kids and just being silly around them She liked the fact she could show them that mom and dad aren't always serious and can have a good time. She liked the rides and the smiles that came to the kids.

Tom's favorite part of the day was watching Paula just being herself witht the kids and not caring about what others thought. He loved watching his kids dancce and play. His favorite show was the Sea Lion show they seemed to get alot more packed into their 30 minute show than the others. The dolphin show was nonstop but they had more trainers and dancers than they did animals.

March 2011

I decided since I am so busy tonight at work I had no excuse to ignore writing and updating the blog. even though the majority of the people on here know what are going on cause you are part of my facebook network. I guess it is better to have multiple spots of history so if one goes down I still have the other.

Paula had scans done in Feb, they came back good I guess. The doctor stated that the brain tumors are still dying and not growing at all. as long as the tissues don't cause swelling nothing will have to be done.

the kids are doing good are excited to get swimming lessons this year, we missed softball signups so we are putting them in swimming.

We are getting ready for our vacation to San Diego and I will update on how that went next month.

Another Year down

After reviewing my past New years Resolution blogs and I really don't know if I accompished them to the degreee I wanted to. I havbe tried to make more memories with the kids but I really don't know if we they have any better memories or not. I guess we will find out when they get older.
But after reading the blog I have been trying to think of something I can work on this coming year. Of course the common get in shape, eat healthier, save money yadda yadda yadda I plan on those anyways I don't think any resolution is needed for that I think that is something that is always is the back of my head and something I want to do. I do know one thing I want to do this coming year is start to run again I know I have missed this stress relief it was always great running you could always clear your mind get the frustrations andanxiety out you don't have the choice but to do so.
With that being said I think my biggest resolution this year will be to get myself motivated to do other things. right now I have so may excuses as to why I can't do this or I can't do that and in reality it is just an excuse I don't want to get off my butt and go and do them.
Just for everyones FYI who is wondering about Paula she is doing great, the last scans came back great the brain tumors have stablized and haven't grown any and the rest of her body shows no new signs of cancer.

Another few months

What happened to me trying to write on this on a monthly basis. Oh well I guess if there is nothing to write then life must be good and stable. Well to catch everyone up on what is going on in the Humphrey family. The kids have started school and they are all doing really well in that we got the two oldest girls core tests results back this week and they both were well above the state and scholl average they must get their smarts from me. Tommy D also got good reports from his teacher. Callie started preschool this year and loves it. I am not sure I love it as much as she does, she comes home and you can't get her to shut up she just gabbers nonstop, she gets that from her mom.

The girls started fall softball and dance but they seem to conflict all the time right now so because the softball is more of practice games then real games we usually will have them go to dance which they love. Callie really loves it she will walk around the house in her ballet shoes.

Tommy D has started back in soccer but for some reason fall soccer just doesn't really grab his attention as spring soccer not really sure why.

Paula has been going good on her cakes she is really enjoying it. I think she has as much fun planningn it as she does making it. I know I like to see how she does things. as for her cancer updates she went in for scans a month or so ago and they found no new tumors in her body, I believe that was in July, and then in august on her brain scan the tumors were stable not growing anymore. We interupted what the dr said a little different. She thought they said it had shrunk but I know they said they were the same size as last time they just hadn't grown much.

As for me I am just busy doing a few house projects and working.

News any news

Well I just noticed how long it has been since I put anything on here and thought for those few poor souls that use this as there exclusive information I would hurry an dpost something on here. We haven't had anything done for a few weeksfor Paula. She won't have to go for more tests or appts until mid July so we get some normalacy back. She is doing much better and trying to get out more and retain some resemablance of a life.

Little man finished soccer a few weeks ago and he is excited for the next season. The older girls just barely finished softball, they played in a tournament and took third place. Thier overall record including the tournament was 11-6-2 not bad considering they lost thier first three games. Way to go Mand M Ranch, they are excited for fall ball coming up and want me to go and play with them on a almost daily basis. Little Callie well she isn't old eneough to be doing anything just yet but she sure likes to sinfg the softball cheers wiuth her sisters. She seems to know them better then they do. Next year she gets to start dance which I think she can't wait for.

So all in all things are good at this point.

Race for the Cure

Well we did our second Race for the Cure it was fun, there weren't as many people dressed wildly there were a few. I didn't think I would stand out with my pink hair bo-hawk(as my sister coined it). I enjoyed watching the Survivors Parade at the end. Seeing the ladies that have survived for 15, 20+ years got me a little choked up. Unfortunately the 0-5 came next and there are way to many "survivors" in that group. I just pray that my wife will be able to move from group to group and will get to that 20+ year group.
Here is a picture of my Bo-hawk. Any suggestions of what I can add for next year.
